The Wake County Lawyers of Kurtz & Blum on Workers' Compensation Claims and Benefits

If You Have Work Injuries, You Can File for Workers' Compensation With the Help of a Workers' Compensation Attorney

Kurtz & Blum is dedicated to helping folks who are injured on the job file workers’ compensation claims and receive workers’ compensation benefits.

If you suffered an accidental injury or contracted an occupational disease while at work, contact a workers’ compensation claim lawyer at Kurtz & Blum, PLLC for a free initial consultation. You may be able to receive financial benefits under North Carolina’s Workers’ Compensation Act.

Except in extremely limited cases, if you are hurt on the job, the only way you can be compensated for your injuries is under the provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Act.

Because available benefits are limited, it is extremely important to speak with an experienced workers’ compensation lawyer who will help you evaluate and maximize your claim. When you call Kurtz & Blum with a potential workers' compensation claim, there is no fee for the consultation. If we do not think you need an attorney or if you want to try to pursue your claim on your own, there is no obligation. However, if things turn sour with the insurance company, we will always be ready to help you.

The Workers’ Compensation claim process is extremely regimented.  After missing seven consecutive days of work, an injured worker may be entitled to temporary total disability (TTD) compensation. Also known as the compensation rate, TTD is 66 percent of the injured worker’s average weekly wage. Medical treatment, prescriptions, and mileage for medical treatment related to the work injury may also be covered.

After a person reaches maximum medical improvement, the treating physician assigns a permanent partial disability (PPD) rating to the injured body part. The worker is paid for his or her permanent partial disability based on a numerical formula laid out by statute.
